Metagenomics pushes the existing technological, analytical, and computational boundaries within Genome Science. Genomic datasets, obtained directly from environmental samples, can contain thousands of different bacterial taxa making gigabases of sequenced DNA. Screening experiments challenge the throughput of contemporary genomic science.
The Hallam Laboratory meets these challenges through its partnership with the Bioinformatics and Genome Science and Technology graduate programs. Rotational students from both programs are accepted on a regular basis, bringing new skills and insight into known and novel problems that are at the forefront of the field.
