OUR INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM
We are engaged in a number of teaching, training, and research initiatives intended to build inclusive and sustainable communities of practice.
Biofactorial
Biofactorial automation equipment enables high-throughput screening of metagenomic and compound libraries, chip-based droplet and cell sorting, CRISPR-Cas9 toolkit development and assay development.
BioBank
Located in the Life Sciences Center at UBC, the BioBank offers a range of storage, lab, and consulting services to researchers seeking to streamline sample management and analysis in their projects and lab spaces.
ECOSCOPE
ECOSCOPE is an NSERC-CREATE training program that gathers UBC graduate students from many faculties around common interests in microbial ecology, biological engineering, big data, and entrepreneurship. Trainees jump-start their careers by completing industry internships and interfacing with members of the biotech community.
EDUCE
Experiential Data Science for Undergraduate Cross-disciplinary Education (EDUCE) is a Large-scale Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) initiative developing a modular and extensible active learning framework in Microbiology and Immunology courses.
